A Good Find  from Joel Hallen
I wish I could discuss my live pixies experience, or at least let on about the excitement of seeing them soon. There are countless petitions going on here down under in Australia to get the Pixies along but it is kind of looking unlikely. So instead I thought I'd share with you how I got into the Pixies.

I always heard my older brother and sister talk about them and play them, but when I really got into music they had long broken up and it was all Radiohead and Nirvana. A few years later when I was living in Brisbane my house got broken into and all my CD's got stolen. A few months after that the cops called my flat mate and told her they recovered a whole bunch of our gear in some raid they did. We went along to the cop shop and were told we could take want ever we wanted. I got all my guitars back and my stereo equipment. Then I walked into the CD room that must have had over 1000 CD’s in there, a lot of them were trashed but they told us to take what we wanted. As I picked up some of my own and some I have always wanted, I stumbled upon a latched box which contained 'Surfa Rosa', 'Death to the Pixies', 'Bossanova' and 'Doolittle'. I collected the CD's and my gear and the cops even drove me home.

For the next month I pissed off everyone in my house continually playing Pixies CD'S and screeching out their tunes on my guitar. It was a beautiful time. So five years later and I am still waiting to see the bastards. I am optimistic, I am also not too bitter about my house being robbed some five years ago. Joel

Priorities...  from Brendan
About a year ago I was huge into Weezer and heard them play a cover of Velouria... so I found the original and became immediately addicted. I have all the albums now and I'm skipping my college graduation to see them at the Atlanta Music Midtown Festival in June!! Fucking A!

Who knew?  from Patrick H
The pixies have changed my life in the past 6 months. they would've done it earlier if I had heard of them before, but no one fucking told me! They are depressingly inspirational and I really don't know if I love em or hate em, but I can't stop listening to em. They are my life support. What the hell did we do before the pixies? we were satisfied with mediocrity, I guess. Suckin our thumbs with our asses.

Sharing the stage with the Pixies  from Mark Denyer
Back in 1988 I was a total thrash/speed metal freak with absolutely no regard for any other musical form. That is until somebody lent me Surfer Rosa. It completely blew me away. It had all the intensity of a thrash metal album without having to resort to a thunderous double bass drum and grinding guitar sound. I played the album non-stop for months. Then I heard that the Pixies were playing in Bristol at the Bierkeller. The venue was a small club and it was packed to bursting. I got myself positioned right at the front just as the band appeared. They started and the crowd went nuts. What a crush! The stage at the Bierkeller was only about 2 feet high and after about half an hour I was in real danger of getting my legs broken. The only way out was to sit on the stage. Others followed my lead and before long I was getting pushed further and further towards the band along with the sound monitors. By the end of the concert I was literally at the feet of Black Francis who was right against the drum kit. At the end BF and Kim both shook my hand. The band were fantastic that night and it still rates as my all time favourite gig.

Pixies 4-ever  from Rob
I really got into their music 2 years ago. I saw them in Montreal, Can. last november. 85 minutes non stop.

Dave's beats + Kim's bass were awesome. Joey hipnotizing his guitar with a drumstick. Frank, as always, was imposing his voice and energy.

A lot of young people there.

To others, hear the first alternative band to inspire K.Cobain, D.Bowie, Bono, Radiohead, PJ Harvey. They're incredible.

Next time they come to Montreal, I'm goin' again.

Cheers.

Stop Playing In the Sun  from Jason Haworth
DEAR GOD!!! I just heard about Sasquatch festival in George, WA. I would love to go, but it is a 3 hour drive from civilization and you have to drive to the Sun to see the Pixies. Alas, were my wife not due to give birth within 3 days of the show I would be there (sunscreen, parisol, and bitching about the heat), but I cannot go. I am very sad. PLEASE COME PLAY IN SEATTLE, or at close to Seattle. We have other venues that are MUCH nicer and MUCH less dusty / sun laden.
